Made for Real Life · When the school papers pile up
Put the whole school year on your phone
School Year on Your Phone is how I turned a stack of school papers into calendar reminders and a checklist. You can do the same with your own papers in a few hours.
Before you start: You need the school papers, your phone calendar and a few hours. No account. Free.
Why I built it
This was the first school year with both of my kids in full-time school. They're both learning, coming home with homework and field trips. And I also have a baby at home.
I didn't want to fall behind. So I put the whole school year on my calendar, with the school supply list too.
Now I don't have to search for anything. If it's Friday, I know what color my younger son is wearing. I get a reminder the day before, and I can always check it on my phone.
Taking those few hours to build the whole school year out saved me so much stress. It took a huge mental load off me.
And it looks good. You look good to the teachers, because you're organized and up to date. You do it for yourself too. You're not trying to remember ten different things at once.
Now I'm breezing through the school year.

How you can use it
In the app or on paper
You can do this in the app or on a piece of paper.
- Take a photo of every school paper. The school calendar, the supply list and the teacher’s letter.
- Pull out every date.Days off, early dismissals, field trips, color days. The free checklist has a line for each.
- Put each date on your phone calendar, with a reminder the day before.
- Add the weekday routine once, set to repeat.Wake-up, leaving the house and pickup.
- Turn the supply list into a checklist.Tick each thing off as you buy it.
Do it once, at the start of the year. Add new dates when the school sends them.
